Jeremy Silver + James Cole – Stoicism, Sovereignty of Self, and Intersectionalism.

Jeremy Silver is my Freshman (and Sophomore and Junior) year roommate from Princeton. We couldn’t be more different but we couldn’t be more close. Jeremy is the consummate introvert – he majored in math, went to ONE party in college (that I dragged him to), and practices Kenji (Japanese characters) for fun for hours on end. He can also do the Rubix Cube….blind folded.

Jeremy has chosen a post-collegiate life of solitude. He works at a governmental agency (that’s all we can say) where he can’t discuss even broad details of his job with people AT work let alone people OUTSIDE work. He focuses his spare time on his passions – piano, guitar, coding, cubing etc. He is in control of his universe and he is happy.

I, by contrast, am the consummate extrovert. I care, less and less, what other’s think but still hurl my “life force” outwards in the hope of engaging with other people, other ideas, other things. I often have no control of the outcomes of my day because so much of how I spend my time is entangled in other people’s emotions, senses of reality, etc.

Which is better? Which is worse? Which is more like you? Listen, and comment below!
